We are Van Heck.

Van Heck is a Dutch company in private hands and a specialist in moving and controlling water. Our origins lie in the dredging industry, where craftsmanship, innovation, and a hands-on mentality have been the standard for decades.

For more than 60 years, Van Heck has been working worldwide on complex issues related to water displacement. We rent temporary pump installations and siphon systems that we design and build ourselves. As a reliable partner, we support temporary water management, surface water management, and the safe execution of civil projects.

Our projects range from local diversions to large-scale infrastructure and water management projects at home and abroad.

We are engineers, specialists, and doers with water in our veins. Our customers choose not only our pumps but also our way of working. For the confidence that there is a team beside them that understands what is going on.

We are a modern, international organization in private hands with a distinctive character: open, involved, and proud of what we do together. We listen, think along, and take on the challenge.

1964

Van Heck is founded

In 1964, a clear and practical idea emerged: water sometimes simply needs to be displaced. With the development of the first screw pump on wheels, founder Roel van Heck laid the foundation for what would later become a leading player in water management.

1970

The smart combination of engine and pump

In the 1970s, an important step forward was taken. While diesel engines and pumps already existed, real innovation lay in smartly combining these techniques into one efficient and reliable whole. This resulted in the first HK400 and HK500 pump sets, which quickly proved their worth under tough conditions. The dredging industry discovered this strength, and Van Heck began to gain international recognition.

1978

Van Heck moves to Noordwolde

Growth continued with a move to Noordwolde in 1978 and the first offshore job in Norway in 1980. In 1992, the siphon principle was applied on a large scale, and in 1998 the first project outside Europe followed, in Hong Kong. What started as a one-man business grew into an international player that continues to innovate.

1980

Van Heck goes international

The first offshore job in Norway marked an important step toward international projects.

1992

The introduction of siphon technology

Introduction of the siphon principle on a large scale. The Van Heck siphon system becomes a new standard in water management.

1998

Van Heck to Hong Kong

First project outside Europe: deployment of four VP800 pump sets at a project in Hong Kong.

2010

Continuing to innovate

The innovative line continued with the introduction of smart control containers in 2010, allowing installations to operate fully autonomously and be remotely monitored.

2014

Records are broken

An impressive highlight followed in 2014 when Van Heck was employed to pump out the flooded Kolubara mine in Serbia. With more than 20 pump sets and 8 kilometers of pipeline, approximately 150,000,000 m³ of water was displaced, one of the largest projects in our company's history. In the same year, a record capacity of 133,800 m³ per hour was also achieved in Somerset (UK).

2016

The arrival of the HK 800

In 2016, the HK800 was added to the existing HK range, further expanding the equipment.

2022

Herman van Dijk takes over Van Heck

By the acquisition of all shares by a local entrepreneur, the character of a truly Dutch family business was retained. However, there was a strong focus on further growth and professionalization of the company. No external shareholders, short lines of communication and dynamic. After the acquisition, the company experienced a new impulse and strong growth.

2023

Step toward new Stage V diesel engines

In the following years, Van Heck continued to invest in the future, expanding the Stage V diesel fleet and developing new control containers and electrically powered pump sets. This way, we continue to build sustainable, innovative solutions and maintain a strong position in international water management projects.

2024

Development of electric pumps

Van Heck invests heavily in electrically powered pump sets. This way, we continue to build sustainable, innovative solutions and maintain a strong position in international water management projects.
