compact pumping installation for harbor expansion Large-scale harbor expansion

For the expansion of a harbor in France, large-scale dredging activities were carried out. In addition to deepening the existing harbor, the project included the construction of new harbor terrain through land reclamation.

Van Heck was engaged for the return water transport during the dredging activities. The temporary pumping installation needed to process large quantities of water, while the available space at the project location was limited.

Three DPPG700 return water pumps

For the project, Van Heck supplied a powerful and compact pumping installation consisting of:

  • 3 × DPPG700 return water pumps
  • 1 × external vacuum system
  • Associated piping and connections

The three DPPG700 pumps ensured reliable drainage and transport of the return water throughout the execution of the dredging project. The combination with the external vacuum system allowed the installation to be used efficiently and remain functioning reliably.

High capacity in limited space

The available space at the pumping location added an extra challenge. In large-scale dredging projects and harbor expansions , the available space around the installation is not always sufficient for a standard setup.

Therefore, the pumping installation was specifically designed for this location. The discharge pipes were led over the pump sets, ensuring the total footprint remained as small as possible.

This compact configuration ensured that the available space was optimally utilized without compromising accessibility, safety, or the performance of the pumping installation.

Reliable return water transport in dredging work

During dredging activities and land reclamation, a large amount of water is generated that needs to be controlled and drained. Reliable return water transport is therefore an important part of the overall process.

With three DPPG700 pumps, Van Heck achieved a solution that was tailored to the required capacity and the practical conditions on-site. The installation could be continuously used for pumping the return water during the project.

Customized for complex water construction

This project in France shows that a temporary pumping installation is not only about pumping capacity. The available space, piping layout, accessibility, and operational reliability also play important roles in the design.

By fully adapting the installation to the conditions on-site, Van Heck realized a compact and reliable solution for return water transport in large-scale dredging activities.
