Van Heck delivers four extensive emergency plans
Good preparation makes the difference when a pumping station fails. Recently, Van Heck delivered four extensive emergency plans for organizations relying on dependable water management. These plans outline necessary measures and various scenarios in advance, enabling swift action in case of an emergency.
More and more organizations want to be prepared for unexpected failures in critical pumping installations. Rightly so, because when a pumping station or pump station fails, every minute counts. A good emergency plan helps save valuable time and limit potential consequential damage.
From site visit to concrete emergency plan
For each emergency plan, our project managers and engineers have been on site to carefully map the existing situation. They measured relevant locations and looked at possible pumping locations, piping routes, connections, and site accessibility.
Back at our location in Noordwolde, our engineers translated this information into a practical and technically substantiated emergency plan. This plan describes, among other things, the required pumping capacity, suitable pumping installations, piping configurations, and additional materials.
Multiple scenarios, one goal: act quickly
In an emergency, circumstances are not always as expected. Therefore, we usually develop two or three scenarios per emergency plan. This way, alternative solutions are prepared, and the situation that actually occurs can be addressed.
Logistics are also taken into account. What materials are needed, how are they delivered, and how is the installation set up? By working these things out in advance, Van Heck can quickly switch gears in an emergency and begin deploying temporary pumping capacity.
The benefits of good preparation
An emergency plan is an investment in security. The main advantages are:
- Time savings: less research needed during an emergency.
- Location knowledge: the situation has been researched and measured in advance.
- Clarity: involved parties know what steps are needed.
- Flexibility: multiple scenarios are prepared.
- Damage limitation: acting quickly helps limit the consequences of a malfunction.
The costs of an emergency plan often pale in comparison to the potential damage from prolonged downtime. With four recently delivered emergency
plans, Van Heck contributes to better preparation for unforeseen situations.
Also want to be prepared for an emergency?
Van Heck maps out the site situation and develops an emergency plan that aligns with the required pumping capacity, technical conditions, and logistics. This way, a concrete plan is ready before it is needed.
