Efficient water management in large-scale road construction
For the construction of a new highway of 9 kilometers hydraulic sand spraying was chosen. By applying the sand this way, the subsoil can settle, creating a stable base for the future road.
When spraying sand, about two-thirds of the pumped volume consists of water. This water must be controlled and discharged after spraying. For this return water transport Van Heck was engaged.
Temporary pump installation for return water
Van Heck took care of transporting the excess water from the work site. For this, a temporary pump installation was used consisting of:
- 2 × EPP200
- 1 × HK500
- 1 × Stage V aggregate
The installation ensured reliable discharge of the return water, allowing the hydraulic sand spraying to take place continuously and under control.
Fewer transport movements
By hydraulically pumping sand to the work site, the emissions of work equipment within the vulnerable work area were limited. At the same time, the return water was efficiently discharged with the temporary pump installation from Van Heck.
This method limits the number of transport movements and prevents a large flow of trucks to and from the work site. Thus, the solution contributes to efficient execution and to meeting increasingly stringent requirements in the areas of emissions and environment.
Reliable return water transport
The project shows how temporary pump installations play an important role in large-scale infrastructure works. By controlling the discharge of return water, water management during sand spraying remains fully under control.
Van Heck thus supplied the temporary pumping capacity for an essential part of the project: reliable return water transport in large-scale road construction.
