Dredging
Construction of a new port in Oman.

Construction of new port by means of dry excavation
For the construction of a new port, dry excavation was chosen. This allowed the work to be carried out safely, efficiently, and with maximum control. After the excavation was completed, the harbor basin had to be carefully filled.
Equipment
- 4 x siphon installation Ø1000 mm
Gravity does the work
To fill the harbor, Van Heck used four siphon installations Ø1000 mm. Thanks to the difference in height between the water source and the harbor basin, the water could be transported entirely by gravity.
No fuel. No extra energy consumption.
Yet high capacity and maximum reliability.
The harbor was filled in a controlled and efficient manner, without the use of conventional pumps. By utilizing the natural gradient, a sustainable and highly cost-effective solution was achieved.
Smartest solution
Where height difference is available, a siphon installation often offers the smartest solution. Van Heck's large siphon systems combine high capacity with extremely low operational costs. Therefore, they are not only sustainable but also financially attractive.
Van Heck is a market leader in large siphon installations. Thanks to years of experience, its own equipment, and proven technology, we provide reliable solutions for complex hydraulic engineering projects.
Gravity as a drive. Maximum capacity. Minimal costs. That is the power of Van Heck.
