Sustainable siphon with minimal power consumption

Temporary diversion during weir construction

At a unique location in the Netherlands, near a beautiful old castle, we installed a temporary siphon system for one of our valued clients.

Construction site accessible via road crossing

For this project, the contractor was replacing a weir and the water had to be temporarily diverted. The construction site was easily accessible via the 18-metre-long road crossing.

The siphon ensured that the water was transferred in a self-regulating manner with minimal power consumption. The rusty pipe blended in beautifully with the autumnal colours of the surrounding trees.

Outflow container

To maintain the water seal and thus the siphon effect, an outflow container was installed on the outflow side. The height of this container determines the required water level. On the inflow side, a flow basin was constructed using sheet piling, ensuring that the water always remains at a specific level. In this way, the siphon remains in operation at all times.
